You know how some people have windows in their basements, and the ground around the window is dug out? I think the area that is dug out is called a window well. When I went to the baby-sitters when I was little, she had these types of windows in her basement, and the windows were all along the front of her house, but were hidden behind some bushes. Along with my best friends, Matt and Morgan, I would always play games outside because our babysitter was old-school. She was awesome like that. Well, when you’re outside playing, and you are a little kid with a small bladder, nature often calls at the worst of times. Inevitably, because we all ate lunch at the same time, Matt, Morgan and I would have to pee at the same time. We decided that we would see who could fill up the window wells with urine first. We knew that it would take some time, but eventually the wells would surely fill up.

We each had our own well, and the competition was fierce. We weren’t just urinating; we were relieving ourselves for a purpose. When one of us filled our well, we surely would be the coolest kid at daycare. Well, as you can imagine, the window wells never did fill up. I guess some things just aren’t meant to be. Darn that evaporation! It’s a good thing we were already the coolest kids there were. Jonas and Rosa had nothing on us! Looking back, I miss those days when my main concern was how much I could pee. It really gives a whole new meaning to a “pissing contest,” don’t you think? (UH-OH! I used a “Potty” word! Get it? POTTY word?!) I guess politics was in my blood, even back then. Now one of my concerns is for my poor babysitter. I’m glad I never had to clean those windows.

Tired

I have been so tired at the end of the day that I want to take a nap. The problem is that if I do take a nap, I have problems falling asleep when I actually go to bed, making me even more tired the next day. I often have things to work on in the evenings, but I’m so tired that I don’t work well. What do you all do to get energized after working all day?

Get the Signature and Go

signature.jpgI often put my signature on documents online through the website I am using. Usually it is a site for school or an official site that needs my signature to carry out a contract. There is a new service available that makes it easy to sign, track and file documents all in one click. Using EchoSign E-Signatures makes signature automation accurate and easy. By using EchoSign 3.0 users have been able to shorten their contract signature process by as much as ninety percent (90%). This efficient and productive process makes contract signing better and allows for more sales to happen. Companies will be amazed how quickly they can go from quote to close and be on to the next deal. Sounds great to me.

Good Weekend
Posted on February 18th, 2008 at 6:07 pm by GregM

I had a good weekend, although it certainly could have been better. I say that because I found out on Friday afternoon that my high school speech coach’s husband died, so I went home to go to the funeral, which was on Saturday. After the funeral, my weekend got fun! I went out to lunch with my grandma Betty and I saw a couple of teachers who I hadn’t seen for a couple of years, and it was really nice to see them. They were a couple of my favorites. Then, I drove to Muncie and had dinner with Taryn and her parents. It was great to see them because I hadn’t since Christmas. Then, I drove to Indianapolis and visited with some of my friends at Butler. The fraternity was having a party and so there were a lot of people there, including Lauren. She said that she had fun hanging out with me because she felt like part of my entourage. I guess I’m kind of popular because it seemed like every two minutes someone new was coming up and giving me a hug.

That night, I spent some quality time with my friend, Leal. We hadn’t spent much time together since I was a Junior because we both got extremely busy with other things before I moved. It was great to catch up with him. We stayed up all night playing cards. Before we knew it, the sun was coming up and so we decided to go to bed. I didn’t get up until 1:30 on Sunday!

Lauren and I went out for lunch around 3:00. We went to Yat’s, which is one of my favorite restaurants. I had been craving some etoufee from Yat’s for a while. There are no good cajun restaurants in Oxford, so I was glad to eat there in Indy. Then, on Sunday evening, I led a LEAD session for the fraternity’s new members, and then sat in during their chapter meeting because they were having a ceremony. It was nice to see everyone.

Gross!

I was giving an exam today. No big deal (for me, at least) but definitely stressful for my students. It brings out some quirky habits. For example, I looked up and saw one of my students picking his nose! As if that wasn’t bad enough, it gets worse. Forget the fact that he was chewing his fingernails later. I’m pretty sure that there wasn’t anything left of the booger on his fingernail because he ate the booger! I was speechless, which doesn’t happen to me very often. It’s a disgusting thing to do, even when you’re by yourself, but to do it in a room with other people around you?!?! I wouldn’t be so surprised if I was teaching kindergarden, but this is college. Bleh!!!

Gas Heaters Online
Posted on February 16th, 2008 at 12:24 am by GregM

It is February, and it is cold! My university closed early a few days ago because of the weather, and my doors were frozen shut. It was a pain trying to get them open. What is worse is that my apartment is kind of drafty, so it gets pretty cold, especially at night. 53

I want to get more heat in my apartment. I know that I have some options. My parents recently built a room onto our house, and they have been working to get good heat, and so they have looked into gas vented heaters. I need to check out gasheatersonline.com to see if there is anything that I can put in my apartment.

Officemate

I am a little upset with one of my officemates. Today, in class, we were talking about the problem of global warming. My professor showed us a BBC article that stated that global warming saved lives because more people die from cold than from heat. When class got over, my officemate was complaining that some people in class were disrespectful of the professor because they told him that the article’s argument was poor because there are more people living in cold regions than in hot regions, and therefore it makes sense that more people die from being cold. My officemate said that this was disrespectful because the professor has studied this material and it is horrible for someone to tell him that it was stupid. I guess she didn’t realize that this wasn’t necessarily his opinion, but that he was using this article to create an interesting discussion in the classroom.

As we were talking in our office after class, I brought up an article that was published by the World Health Organization that said climate change causes 150,000 deaths per year. Before I could continue talking about the article, my officemate said that she didn’t see how that was possible and she made it very clear that she didn’t want to hear what I had to say. I think that she was doing the same thing to me that she was complaining others did to our professor.

PGP

I just saw this new promotion where you can win $50,000 to help pay for a college education. I know how expensive college can be, so the PGP College Education Sweepstakes is a really good thing to look into. It’s sponsored by As The World Turns and Guiding Light, so that makes it pretty interesting. Be sure to check it out.

30 Rock

I’ve been watching 30 Rock during my free time over the past few days. It’s really funny. Tina Fey is hysterical! I wish the writers’ stike would end. I miss all of my regular shows. I now have a lot of shows that I want to watch because I’ve been watching DVDs of shows that I normally didn’t see. If you could pick one tv show that could have new episodes, what would it be?
